Scam Alert
We have become aware of a hotel reservation scam directed at exhibitors registered for OCEANS ’13 San Diego. The contact purports to be from “Exhibitor Housing Services”. As far as we know, this company does not exist. It is certainly not associated with the conference in any way. Now that registration is open, they may try contacting individual registrants.They are offering “discounted rates” at the Town and Country Resort where the conference will be hosted. However, these “discounted rates” are actually higher than the negotiated conference rate. In addition, the conference room block makes it unlikely any rooms are actually available.
We strongly suspect these people are just phishing for credit card numbers and the like. Don’t be fooled. Don’t be a victim.
All hotel reservations should be made directly with the Town and Country Resort using the on-line reservation system linked from this conference website.
